Gifted And Talented Education
At Stratford STEM Middle, we strive to ensure that extraordinary academic talent is recognized and nurtured and that these students are involved in academically stimulating programs. Students who are identified through an assessment of abstract reasoning and logical thinking participate in the MNPS Gifted and Talented (GATE) program.
The curriculum is designed to be challenging, hands-on, interactive and problem based with a focus on strengthening students’ critical and creative thinking skills. Instruction is interdisciplinary and aligned with Tennessee content standards, and students meet weekly during school hours.
We also offer the Young Scholars of Nashville (YSN) Program, which is a talent development program whose goal is to identify and nurture advanced academic potential. This program focuses on nurturing critical and creative thinking abilities embedded within content areas. YSN instruction is also interdisciplinary and aligned with Tennessee content standards, and students meet weekly during school hours.
