At Stratford STEM Middle, we strive to ensure that extraordinary academic talent is recognized and nurtured and that these students are involved in academically stimulating programs. Students that are identified through an assessment of abstract reasoning and logical thinking participate in the MNPS Encore program, which provides instructional experiences designed specifically for Intellectually Gifted and Academically Talented learners. The curriculum is designed to be challenging, hands-on, interactive and problem based with a focus on strengthening students’ critical and creative thinking skills. Instruction is interdisciplinary and aligned with Tennessee content standards, and students meet weekly during school hours.
We also offer the Young Scholar’s of Nashville (YSN) Program, which is a talent development program whose goal is to identify and nurture advanced academic potential. This program focuses on nurturing critical and creative thinking abilities embedded within content areas. YSN instruction is also interdisciplinary and aligned with Tennessee content standards, and students meet weekly during school hours.
