Restorative Justice

Learning to Manage Conflict

Restorative Justice is a way of handling conflict and discipline that focuses on repairing harm and building relationships, rather than just punishing students. It includes restorative practices, restorative parenting, and a complete environment focused on Social Emotional Learning.

Key parts of restorative justice:

  1. Talking it out: Students, teachers, and sometimes parents have a conversation about what happened.
  2. Understanding impact: The student who caused harm hears how others were affected.
  3. Making amends: The student takes steps to repair the harm—this could be an apology, helping out, or another agreed-upon action.
  4. Rebuilding trust: The goal is to restore relationships and create a stronger, more respectful school community.
